Background and Education
I grew up in Wilmette, Illinois and attended St. Joseph's Elementary School and Regina Dominican High School. I received a BA in English from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. I then attended National Louis University in Evanston, Illinois and completed my Masters in Teaching. I also have a Middle School Endorsement and am highly qualified in Reading and Language Arts.
I have lived in Park Ridge for 24 years and my four daughters attended Mary, Seat of Wisdom School.
Years of Teaching Experience
From 1986-1990 I taught 5th grade at Daniel Wright Middle School in Lincolnshire, Illinois. After being a full-time mother, I began substitute teaching at MSW in 2002. From 2006-2008 I taught at MSW as a 5th grade teacher, 5th/6th grade Resource teacher and a 6th grade Language Arts and Religion teacher. In 2009 I returned to substitute teaching, and for the last 4 years I have been able to teach all grade levels and all subject areas (including football and woodworking) at MSW, St. Paul of the Cross and Park Ridge School District 64. For the last 4 years, I have also worked for an educational research firm as a child assessor. I was involved in a number of exciting studies including Head Start CARES and the Chicago School Readiness Project.
