Mary, Seat of Wisdom

I believe that the elementary school years are the most formative and changing years for a young Catholic adult.  I hope I bring good moral decision-making skills to my students. I truly believe in no child left behind.

BACKGROUND & EDUCATION

I was raised in Elmwood Park IL and attended St. William’s Catholic School in Chicago for eight years and was a parishioner there for twenty-four years.  I have been a parishioner at Mary, Seat of Wisdom since 1989.  I love our parish and I am a Lector and a Eucharistic Minister for Sunday Masses.

I have an Elementary Education teaching degree from Northeastern Illinois University.  My minor is in Language Arts. As I have taken additional courses, I also have endorsements in Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and Middle School management. I have taken additional courses in Special Education at North Park University to receive another endorsement.   Going back to school has been an exceptional learning experience and a very exciting time for me!

YEARS OF TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have been teaching at MSW since the spring of 2006.  I have taught Language Arts, Composition, Math, and Religion in the Junior High.  I have also taught 4th and 5th grade Math.  New this year is being a homeroom teacher for 6th grade.  It is wonderful to have a homeroom and interact with students in this way.  I am teaching all of 6th grade Religion and one section of Science.  A truly exciting aspect of my teaching career is my role as Resource Teacher for grades four through eight.  Being a Resource Teacher for these grades allows me to spend time with all of our students who may require assistance.  This is an extremely rewarding part of my day!

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES AT MSW
At MSW, I have been involved in the Language Arts Curriculum Committee, a 7th and 8th Grade Level Leader, Study Island Summer Program Coordinator, Resource Meeting Coordinator, After-School Tutoring Program and I'm a Promethean Board Geek!

HOBBIES & INTERESTS
My interests include live theater, live music, dancing, singing, reading and cake decorating.  I am also involved in fund-raising for my alma mater, St. William’s School.
