Room 200: Mrs. Jean Sloan
I love to teach and I feel very lucky to be able to contribute to the education of the students with whom I work. Our own three children received an excellent education while attending MSW. I am proud and grateful to be able to work with a group of such dedicated and caring professionals.
Background and Education
I was born and raised in Chicago in the Old Town neighborhood. I attended St. Michael's grammar school and high school. I graduated from DePaul University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. I am continuing to take graduate level courses in Reading Strategies/RTI/Differentiated Instruction.
Years of Teaching Experience
I taught second grade at St. Attracta School in Cicero. I helped with the library program at St. Michael's. After subbing at MSW for a few years at various grade levels I was offered a full-time position in second grade. I taught second grade for thirteen years, and first grade for nine years. I also taught third grade for one semester, fourth grade math for one year, and primary resource for the last 8 years.
Additional Activities at MSW
I have been a facilitator for Rainbows for several years. I have been on various academic/curriculum committees, and the social committee.
Hobbies and Interests
I love to read, attend live theater performances, cheer for the Cubs and DePaul basketball, spend time with my pets, and most importantly spend time with my family.
